Stuck In School
A Unity-based tower defense game created for the 2022 “Severin Bumbaru” Hackathon, featuring coin-based tower upgrades, multiple enemy types, animated projectiles, sound effects, and an endless survival mode.
Stuck in School is a tower defense strategy game created for the 2022 “Severin Bumbaru” Hackathon, where it earned 1st place in the Object-Oriented Programming category. The goal was to design a fun, replayable game loop that balances accessibility with tactical decision-making.
Players defend school hallways by placing and upgrading towers using a coin-based economy. Every defeated enemy rewards coins, which can be reinvested into stronger defenses. The game features two tower types with unique attack patterns and projectile behaviors, offering varied defensive strategies.
Enemies also differ in health, speed, and movement animations, encouraging players to optimize tower placement to counter different threat types. The build includes sound effects and visual feedback, enhancing player immersion and making every wave feel dynamic.
Two game modes were implemented: a classic challenge requiring players to eliminate 100 enemies to win, and a ‘hell mode’—an endless survival scenario that scales difficulty over time. The project highlights gameplay balancing, enemy wave tuning, and the creation of a smooth, user-friendly upgrade flow.
